But I have found these are great

August 1st, 2010 No comments

But I have found these are great starter questions to get the ball rolling. Fire every possible question you can think of at your central idea.

Finally, what do you do after you ask questions of your topic? Simply answer as many as you can. And when one question gives rise to another, write that question down and answer it.

And when you look over all that you have written – your single paragraph, your questions and your answers ? you will find at least one article in there. Do a little polishing, do a little moving around and you are ready to publish your online article.

And guess what? The next article will be easier because you have already developed a lot of ideas on paper. So publish those ideas as well.

TRIVIA

The creature with the largest brain in relation to its body is the ant.

ODDSPOT

Any dachshund owner knows the feisty breed rarely backs away from a challenge, but a dog in Russia is taking that reputation to new heights – or depths.

The dog, named Boniface, is learning how to scuba dive.

Owner Sergei Gorbunov, a professional diver in the Pacific coastal city of Vladivostok, had a diving suit, complete with helmet, made for the dog and is teaching him the tricks of the trade

ANYONE with a partner 36 years his junior can expect to feel a bit out of step at times.

That certainly seemed to be the case when 69-year-old Sir Clive Sinclair and his wife Angie took a stroll together in London.

With his hands shoved in his suit pockets and his gaze directed towards the pavement, the veteran inventor trailed several yards behind his fashionably dressed other-half.

Lady Sinclair, 33, in aviator sunglasses and a trendy check shirt, sent a text message as she strode ahead.

The sight was something of a contrast to the shots they released after their wedding three months ago, in which Sir Clive affectionately draped his arm around his glamorous wife.

The pair secretly married in a civil ceremony in Las Vegas after being engaged for a year.

But they had been seeing each other on and off for more than a decade after meeting in 1996, when she worked as a lapdancer in London’s Stringfellows club.

Bakeries put dough into fresh city base

0 Comments | Lincolnshire Echo, Jul 28, 2010 | by Dawn Hinsley

AN opening ceremony earlier this month saw the tape cut on a brand new home for Allied Bakeries in Lincoln.

Staff and their families were given the chance to explore the new premises in the old Walker Smiths building in Exchange Road, after operating from a site at Deacon Road for 50 years.

One of the longest-serving staff members who cut the ceremonial tape was Tony Harris, 61.

Mr Harris has been an employee at Allied Bakeries for 45 years – 36 spent in Lincoln.

He said: “I originally started with Allied Bakeries in Wales and came to Lincoln as transport manager in 1974. Then, in 2002, I was made area vehicle maintenance manager.

“When I came to Lincoln it was a bustling bakery and I remember there was always a lovely smell of bread.

“They ceased production in 1988, then turned it into a distribution site.”

Mr Harris revealed he was quite impressed with the new premises.

He said: “People will have a lovely, bright building with all refurbished offices. I think it will be good for everyone and they have a good site to support them now.”

John Parker, logistics executive with Allied Bakeries, has been overseeing the relocation.

“The building has been empty for about four years now and we have done a lot of work on it,” he said.

Mr Parker, 52, has worked for Allied Bakeries for 36 years and described the prospect of what the move will mean to staff as wonderful.

He said: “The Deacon Road building was built in 1958 and we were the first tenants.

“It was on lease to begin with then we purchased the land several years later.

“I actually started at Deacon Road in 1975, then moved around over the years and came back here about three years ago.

“It was actually a case of coming back here to help facilitate the move.

“I have seen quite dramatic changes over the years. When I first started here it was a bakery as well – it was a hive of activity. The bakery closed around 23 or 24 years ago.

“It came to the point where the building needed such a high level of investment that we decided to move to much more suitable premises.”

Paul Longley, Allied Bakeries’ logistics director, revealed the move could even result in additional jobs locally.

He said: “The move to our new depot will not only be instrumental in growing the business and taking the company forward, it will also add value to the local community and create new job opportunities, strengthening our existing 40-strong employee base

The stereotypes are so common, it?s

July 29th, 2010 No comments

The stereotypes are so common, it?s easy to quickly pigeonhole older workers into one or the other. If you are an older candidate, this is a challenge you face. The good news is that it?s largely up to you to control which way you are likely to be seen.

I am not making light of the challenges older workers face, suggesting that there is no such thing as age discrimination, or implying that the solutions are instant and easy. But I do want to highlight two specific things about these older workers, and why I believe they are perceived so differently.

First, each of these people is seen very much the way that they see themselves. Granted, this isn?t always the case ? we all know people whose self-image is skewed (often quite generously). But it is universally true that our attitudes tend to inform the way we present ourselves and the way we are seen.

Second, perhaps as an extension of the way they see themselves, both of these older workers act accordingly. The older of the two reads voraciously, she takes and teaches classes at the local community college, and she makes a point of keeping herself on the forefront of her field.

This helps you to know

July 29th, 2010 No comments

This helps you to know what lessons and exercises you?d like your participants to complete each week. You can include learning objectives, homework assignments and activities that you want participants to take part in.

Decide on how you?ll deliver your program. There are so many technology options available and there?s no limit on what you can use to bring your participants together. However, to maximize their learning potential ? and to grow your coaching business ? it?s important to choose the technology that your target audience is familiar with. For example, trying to deliver your program using vSkype when your target audience is baby boomers may be a lost cause. Instead, opt for the telephone with this group.

Decide on the length and duration. Typically, group coaching programs are between 4- to 8-weeks in length and are scheduled weekly for 60- to 90-minutes. What you decide on will depend on the topic and the number of participants.

Make your program interactive.

Here are a few: What kind of contact

July 29th, 2010 No comments

Here are a few:

What kind of contact information do you provide for a former employer that has gone out of business?

If you worked for a company through a temporary agency, who do you list as the employer?

If you were fired from your previous job, should you leave it off the application?

How you answer these and other questions can make the difference between a swift and successful background check and one that grinds to a halt because information can?t be verified. Human resources will usually caution against hiring someone whose information is hard to read, has gaps or inconsistencies, or is lacking important details.

A successful job search requires a professional-looking resume, strong interviewing skills, and a can-do attitude.

Star strike is a Lydbrook gift

0 Comments | Forester, The; Cinderford (UK), Apr 15, 2010

Northern Senior League Division One

Star 0

Lydbrook Athletic 4

LYDBROOK scored three times in the first-half to quickly gain the upper hand.

The first was a gift, the Star centre-half volleying into his own net with aplomb from a corner. Derek Roberts doubled the lead, then Mark Weyman scored again before the break.

Lydbrook were forced to defend for most of the second period, but they did it well to ensure keeper Craig Edwards was rarely troubled.

Late in the game, the Star keeper came out of his goal but only half-cleared the ball.

Derek Roberts made him pay for his mistake by chipping him from 35-yards. Steve Blaby and Simon Holland were Lydbrook’s men of the match.

Keeping a chart allows us to keep

Keeping a chart allows us to keep all things in perspective, and feel our own harmony with all the cycles of nature.

Basal Body Temperature

If you are not sure you are ovulating, you can take your temperature. The body’s resting temperature increases four-tenths of a degree Fahrenheit or two-tenths of a degree Centigrade under the influence of progesterone at ovulation. Observing this sign involves taking your temperature at the same time each morning before rising. (This is not as hard as it sounds. It takes less than two minutes and you can go back to sleep if you want.)

To observe your temperature rise, buy a BD brand digital basal thermometer.
